I love games as well and am currently in college..non traditional student. Curious enough we are the same age...lol. Anyway I am up late was looking online for map/ game egines to kinda get started on making maps and eventually games when I came across your page in MSN search. Its late but on the brief question you posed on dmg system, from experience on board and computer games I believe you should include a heavy dmg accumulator of a type. I havent even looked into your game yet ...but there should be some extreme case where everythings has a possibility of hitting a "lethal" strike...maybe with some luck or physical adds to bonuses. I thought I would drop a note before going to bed...lol , Im tired but I'll write again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19197483.post-1135671617937094872005-12-27T01:20:00.000-07:002005-12-27T01:20:00.000-07:00(this is joepub from The Forge)What I did for Poin...(this is joepub from The Forge)

What I did for Point of Collapse, and everyone seemed to like, is I provided a few detailed settings and realities of the world.

What this did was provide snapshots that vividly show players what kind of world they are in - without robbing them out any creative juice.

Anyways, that's what is working for me.
Peace.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19197483.post-1133408899361938062005-11-30T20:48:00.000-07:002005-11-30T20:48:00.000-07:00Hi!Looks like "Lands of Lore" is taken, I am think...Hi!

Looks like "Lands of Lore" is taken, I am thinking of calling it "Iron Age Adventures" I'll let that rattle around in my brain and then update all my junk if I like it!

Good idea. I think doing something new and interesting is a good thing (if you can advertise it well, sigh).

I also like freedom to expand, and a certain amount of complexity. However, this shouldn't be overdone. For example, I think its great to have those 30 different options for races. Ten types of elves, on the other hand, is too much confusion. It would be better to have those ten as some entirely new races (completely different from elves). This is easier to categorize and keep track of. Names should be subtle mnemonic devices, hinting at some of the qualities of those races. The worst thing for a book, rpg, or any kind of tale is to have names that sound or look similar (it is too easy to mix them), or to have too many or hard to remember/identify names (makes things confusing).

Even better yet, it might be good to have a smaller number of races (ease of use, especially at the start), divided into many different schools/countries/guilds/whatever you want (the complexity is there for those who want to delve into the game).

Basically what I am trying to say is that complexity is great to have and gives a game depth and meaning. But it shouldn't hit you when you first open it, but should rather be "hidden" in a way so that you can start adventuring, see that you like it, and then go further.

Anyway, that was my 2cents. Hope it helps!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19197483.post-1132935044162616392005-11-25T09:10:00.000-07:002005-11-25T09:10:00.000-07:00Psionics works wonderfully in a fantasy setting. ...Psionics works wonderfully in a fantasy setting.
